Heavy training can take a toll on your muscles. Even though L-Glutamine is generally the body's most abundant amino acid, it is also the most depleted after hard training. Hardcore lifters and athletes know that Glutamine is a conditionally essential amino acid during time of metabolic stress and that supplemental Glutamine helps maximise recovery. Glutamine is used as a cellular fuel, supports protein metabolism, and may help replenish muscle glycogen stores when combined with carbohydrates. Glutamine also promotes bicarbonate production, which can be important for buffering lactic acid produced during intense training.
Glutamine is also imperative for the body to manufacture the hormones required for correct brain function: dopamine, norepinephrine, GABA (gamma amino butyric acid), endorphin and serotonin.
L-Glutamine, when combined with other amino acids Glycine and Proline is said to reduce leaky gut problems and help build collagen for skin, joints and ligaments. These are the main ingredients that bone broth has for it's health benefits.
Glutamine is essential for HGH (Human Growth Hormone) which declines with age. Other essential nutrients for HGH include L-Arginine, L-Lysine, L-Glycine, Colostrum IgG and Ornithine.
L-Glutamine is well known for it's ability to rebuild damaged intestinal lining, so may help those with IBS or other intestinal problems.
