L-OptiZinc is a patented form of Zinc complexed with the amino acid Methionine.
Research has demonstrated this product to be better absorbed and retained longer compared to several other forms of Zinc tested.
Zinc is involved with immune system function, hair growth, fertility, smell, taste, insulin production, growth, development, and a host of enzymes required for physical and mental health.
The body has around 55,000 different enzymes, each with an important job to do, and zinc is required in nearly all of these enzymes. This is another reason to include uncooked, natural food in the diet every day, as cooking destroys all enzymes in food.
Zinc cannot be retained in the body, so should be taken daily as food or supplements.
Diabetics and pre-diabetics may benefit from increased insulin production (better performance of the pancreas).
Opti-Zinc also includes copper, as both zinc and magnesium supplements compete with copper in the absorption process, sometimes leading to a copper deficiency.
Suggested for those wanting to get pregnant, body builders, athletes, those recovering from sickness, those wanting to protect ovaries or help with prostate symptoms, those wanting to promote wound healing, those who want to build their immune system to prevent disease.
Copper is essential to build new red blood cells (the body makes over 2 million red blood cells every second!) and may help resolve anemia in some cases.
Zinc supplements can raise testosterone levels, but only in those with a zinc deficiency.
Foods with significant zinc levels include oysters, beef, crab, pork, beans, chicken, yogurt, nuts, oats. Also in fortified cereals and breads, but these are generally damaging foods anyway so LeanMachine does not recommend these.
Toxicity can occur at over 40mg daily in adult men.
Symptoms of zinc toxicity include nausea, headaches, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps.
